Telecommunications Engineer – Avaya Telecoms


Internal position title: Technology Systems Analyst



  • Provide tier 1-2 support of the EMEA (Europe, Middle-East, Africa) telecoms infrastructure (including Moves/Adds/Changes/Deletes requests), according to internal SLA’s
  • Own the EMEA Voice Systems ticket queue
  • Assist business users with all VoIP (IP Telephony) service requests and related applications
  • Co-ordinate escalations to external support business partners; track resolution progress
  • Escalate fixed line faults to carriers; track resolution
  • Works closely (remotely) with local site support (business partner on site – when required); escalate to local language carriers or support partners when needed
  • Leverage vendors and contribute to virtual teams
  • Document standards, best practices, design and architecture
  • Maintain disaster recovery processes and business continuity planning and design
  • Maintain Telecoms Expense Management database; raise telecoms purchase orders as required.


  • Higher degree - Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent through experience)
  • 2+ years hands on experience supporting Avaya VoIP telecommunications systems, preferred in a large corporate structure
  • Avaya Communication Manager troubleshooting and administration experience (e.g. Elite, CMS, Aura, One-X IP product range, Session Manager, Acme Packet Session Border Control, SIP, H323, QOS, VLAN, Microsoft Unified Messaging, Five9,…)
  • Cisco voice technical skills are an advantage (e.g. Cisco IPT/UCCE, Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity, CME, CUE,…)
  • Proven ability to support a multi-site IPT estate (VoIP) including call centers and back office
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Desk-based function, occasional travel may be required in the future (Europe region only)
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Dynamic, open to change
  • Effective time management, able to work independently, effective under pressure
